Hello — I'm Andrew; I'm a storyteller.
Whether I'm photographing March Madness or the Big Ten Tournament, writing an investigative piece about lease cancellations, covering the grand opening of a community carousel or speaking with a retiring philosophy professor, I tell the stories of my community.
I learned the big picture of journalism while serving on The Purdue Exponent's five-person summer staff in 2026. That summer, I shifted my focus from photojournalism to a broader newsroom perspective, writing articles, designing pages, editing stories, and taking photographs. Developing those skills taught me that the strongest photographs don't just capture a moment — they tell a deeper story.
Today, I'm the Photo & Video Editor at The Exponent. I lead a team of nearly 20 photographers as we visually document the Purdue community, while I mentor each photographer through one-on-one meetings and regular trainings. I was honored with the Editor of the Year award in spring 2026 for my contributions to the newsroom.
I believe photojournalism is how we preserve the present for the historians of tomorrow. Whether a story is widely covered or rarely told, my goal is the same: create photographs that help people understand their community and remember its history.
Outside the newsroom, I work as a freelance photographer and study philosophy, mathematics, and statistics at Purdue University. I'm entering my senior year, where I'll also serve as a teaching assistant in the Department of Philosophy.
